Analysis of digipak - Parachute, Losing Sleep.

This is Parachute's debut album, Losing Sleep. They are an American soft rock/pop band that are relatively new, this album is quite easy-listening and calm so the style of the digipak has to reflect that. The band are introduced throughout the digipak and each band member has their own double page picture. Will Anderson the lead singer and guitarist is the one the first inside page which would show the audience that he is the front image for the band. This is also true for their music videos where he is the main focus which is quite common for most bands to have the lead singer as the focal point.

The photographs all have a similar saturated look to them and they are layered with opaque images of trees and light creating an interesting filter effect. This creates a more interesting and softer image than if the photographs weren't filtered which might make the close-ups seem too bold which would not fit in with the style of the album.

The images of clouds and light is used throughout the digipak and comes across with the bright yet soft colouring of the photographs. There is also an image of clouds and seagulls on the CD which creates a link to the soft photography inside the digipak and the slightly bolder coloured photographs on the front and back cover of the digipak. There is still the use of saturated tones and similar light almost sepia colour of the light.

On the back there is an image of the whole band which also uses the same opaque layered style as the photos in the digipak.

Although in my digipak I am not going to use images of the band I like the style of the photographs and the layered effect with the sunlight and clouds. Also like Charlie Simpson's digipak there is the use of a border around each of the pages to create an almost polaroid style which I quite like as it adds a feeling of nostalgic and aged effect.
