Song & Genre

After listening to each song from the list that we have narrowed down a few times, we have decided that the song that we're going to produce the video for is 'Good Life' by OneRepublic which fits into the Pop-Rock genre.

The reason we have chosen this song is because it has a up tempo beat, the lyrics allows us a lot of creativity for the music video.

The band consists of lead vocalist Ryan Tedder; lead guitar Zach Filkins; rhythm guitar Drew Brown; drums Eddie Fisher and bass guitar Brent Kutzle. The band officially formed back in 2002 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. They got signed onto Mosley Music Group in 2006 and released their first debuting album 'Dreaming Out Loud' in 2007.

Their debut album went mainstream when their first single 'Apologize' received the largest air plays at that time with 10,331 plays in one week. It went to number one for 8 weeks on the Billboard Pop 100 chart and reached top 3 on the Billboard Hot 100. The single had 5 million digital download sin the US and it was certified x4 platinum. The song was known interntaionally reaching number one in 16 countires,  including Nepal, Australia, Austria, Germany, Italy, New Zealand, Sweden, Egypt, Turkey and the Netherlands. It spent thirteen weeks at number-one in Canada.

The band's musical style and influences has been varied told by lead singer Ryan Tedder, "We're no respecter of genre. If its a good song or a good artist whether rock, pop, indie or hip hop, they've probably influenced us on some level...nothing's new under the sun, we're a sum of a bunch of parts." They are heavily influenced by The Beatles and U2 in their music.

The original video of this song is an Illustration video shot in a mountain valley in Colorado, the scenes of them on the mountain are shot through a vintage lens, this is different from their other videos.  This video follows the conventions of a band performance because the director has chosen to show things like lip-syncing up close, mimed playing of the instruments.
