We have come up with a concept of shooting in the city and the countryside, the idea behind this is that we wanted to create a scenerio of a country girl who finds herself in the city and wonders through the crowds of people and buildings. In the city, we really wanted to create this idea of isolation, even though the character is surrounded by all of these people she is isolated and unconnected from the world around her.
We were thinking of alternating the shots of the city with the shots of the countryside, playing two stories at the same time then linking it into one at the end.We want to portray a clear contrast between the city and the country, this contrast will be shown by the filming techniques such as using black & white for the city and colour for the country side, and the character's body language and facial expressions in the shots.
In the country, we want to show the audience how free and at home she feels. We are thinking of shooting down a country road with the character just walking down by herself, she feels at home, relaxed and happy. Even though she is by herself and isolated, she is happy and animated, she enjoys the fresh country air; the clear blue skies; the warm sunlight on her skin. To really emphasise she is a country girl, we wanted her to look very bohemian; curly blonde hair, wearing a light chiffon dress that flows with the wind. We are also thinking of including a horse in our video, this will be easy to get as the person who we are getting to play the character competes in competitions and owns several horses, the reason for this is because we wanted to reinforce the idea of appreciating mother nature and the beautiful creations that she makes.
